$75 Flat Diagnostic, no surge
Auburn-Owned Owner-led & local

Why we don't promise 2am service — and why you don't actually want it.

Most "garage door emergencies" are snapped springs. Springs hold 150 to 200 pounds of door tension. Replacing one at 2am with a tired tech and no daylight is how people get hurt and how doors get installed wrong. There is a reason real spring work happens during business hours.

Real after-hours operators charge $300 to $500 trip fees. They get pitched as "emergency rate" or "night call." We don't run a surge model. Within our regular hours (call by 4pm) our flat $75 diagnostic does not move, the same at 9am as it is at 2pm. Service outside our regular hours — before we open or after we close — is emergency service, a flat, quoted $100 add. That is it. No $300 to $500 night-call trip fee.

We work 7am to 7pm Monday through Friday and 10am to 5pm on weekends. Call by 4pm and you are on today's schedule. Need us outside those hours (before we open or after we close)? That is the emergency lane. Call (don't book online) and we prioritize you. That is a real plan, not a marketing promise. See the after-hours safety steps below if your door fails after we close and you genuinely cannot wait until morning.

What to do tonight if it's after 7pm.

If your door fails after-hours and waiting until morning is not an option, here is exactly what to do. None of this requires tools you don't already have.

  1. 1

If the door is stuck open

Unplug the opener at the ceiling outlet. Pull the red emergency-release cord — it hangs from the trolley above the door. Lower the door manually, two people if possible, one each side. If it will not stay down, brace the inside of the track with a 2x4 wedge. Do not stand under a partially-open door.

  2. 2

If you heard a loud bang and the door won't move

That is almost certainly a snapped torsion spring. The door is now roughly 150 pounds of dead weight. Do not try to lift it manually — the cables are no longer load-bearing safely. Park outside, lock the interior door from the garage into your home, and call us at 7am. We prioritize spring calls in the first appointments of the day.

  3. 3

If you can't tell what's wrong

Take a photo of the springs (the long bar above the door, looking up from inside). Text it to (256) RED-CLAY. We will reply first thing in the morning with what to expect, what part it is, and a price before we head out.

When to call

What Qualifies as a Garage Door Emergency?

If any of these situations describe what you are dealing with right now, do not wait. Call us immediately.

Door Won't Close

Your garage is wide open and your home is exposed. This is a security and weather risk that cannot wait.

Door Fell Off Track

A door off its tracks is extremely dangerous. Do not attempt to move it yourself. We will secure and realign it safely.

Spring Snapped

A broken torsion or extension spring means the door cannot operate. You may have heard a loud bang from the garage.

Car Trapped Inside

Need to get to work, school, or an appointment? We prioritize calls where vehicles are stuck behind a non-functioning door.

Storm Damage

High winds, fallen branches, or hail can damage panels, bend tracks, and knock doors off alignment. We respond quickly after severe weather.

FAQ

Garage Door Emergency FAQs — Auburn & Opelika

Is there a 24/7 garage door repair company in Auburn, AL?

A few companies advertise 24/7 service in the Auburn area, but most route after-hours calls to a voicemail or call center and dispatch a technician the next business day. We are honest about it: Red Clay works 7am to 7pm Monday through Friday and 10am to 5pm on weekends. Call by 4pm and you are on today's schedule. Need us outside our regular hours (before we open or after we close)? That is emergency service, a flat, quoted $100 add, and it jumps you to the front of the line.

My garage door is stuck open at night — what should I do?

Unplug the opener at the ceiling outlet, pull the red emergency-release cord, and manually lower the door (two people if possible). If it will not stay down, brace the inside of the track with a 2x4 wedge. Lock the interior door from the garage into your home, and call (256) RED-CLAY at 7am. We prioritize doors-stuck-open in the first appointments of the day.

How fast can you come out for a broken spring in Auburn?

Broken springs are our top-priority repair. Call by 4pm and you are usually on today's schedule. Need us outside our regular hours (before we open or after we close)? That is emergency service, a flat, quoted $100 add, and we bump you to the front. For anything urgent, call (don't book online). The actual replacement takes 45 to 90 minutes once we arrive. We give you the exact number before we start.

Do you charge extra for emergency calls or after-hours service?

Our $75 diagnostic and our repair pricing do not change based on the clock. We do not run a surge-pricing model — the same broken spring costs the same whether you call us at 9am or 2pm. The one add is emergency service, meaning you need us outside our regular hours (before we open or after we close). That carries a flat, quoted $100 add, and we tell you the number before we head out. Still no $300 to $500 "night call" trip fee that the after-hours operators charge.

What time do I need to call for same-day garage door service in Auburn?

Call by 4pm and you are on today's schedule. Need us outside our regular hours (before we open or after we close)? That is emergency service, a flat, quoted $100 add, and it gets prioritized. For anything urgent, call us, not the online booking form. The phone reaches Peyton fastest. (The /book calendar online needs at least seven hours of lead time, because online requests reach us slower than a call, so anything sooner than that, call.)
